Sarah Chatterton BSc Hons Memb RCSLT Reg HPC
I have worked as a specialist speech and language therapist (SLT) since qualifying from the University of Newcastle in 1988. After 20 years within the NHS I now work solely as an independent SLT with children, teenagers and adults. My predominant experience is working with people with traumatic and acquired brain injury and people with learning disabilities. I provide assessment, therapy and advice to clients and their families on a 1:1 basis, both face to face and remotely via video link such as Zoom or Facetime. I use Goal Attainment Scales (GAS) as a framework for functional and effective goal setting and a means of outcome measures. I work closely and collaboratively with other members of the multi- disciplinary team to develop integrated rehabilitation programmes. The team may include education staff, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, support workers, case managers and solicitors. I deliver training on request. I provide assessments and expert witness reports as part of the medico-legal process. |
"Sarah is a highly effective clinician, and I have been impressed with her ability to establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with my challenging clients. Her strong client focus is complimented by a full appreciation of the issues that impact the client, and the wider team. She works equally well independently, or within a community based team. Sarah has a strong and boundaried work style, tempered with a keen sense of humour. Her intervention has clearly benefitted my clients, and I highly recommend her services."
